I think we all have this co-worker. You know the one who makes it known “Reality TV” is out of the question, they’re always “blessed and highly favored”, and when reprimanded for spending too much time witnessing on company time, they’re upset because their boss can’t see the Master’s work is more important than the huge stack of undone work on their desk… Scriptures, Christian Quotes and the “Serenity Prayer” line the walls of their cubicle and if not mistaking, the signature on their work emails is one of encouragement.
Have you ever walked into a Coworkers cubicle to get clarification on a report and without a clue the conversation shifts to your relationship with God? Before walking over to their desk, you strategically thought out how to ask the question and get out of there quickly, but IT DIDN’T WORK. You see God told them you needed an encouraging word and when you said, “Good Morning, can you help me with something?” that was the confirmation they needed. They only heard “help”.
And then there are those days like today when it’s beautiful outside, you’re feeling great about the weekend, and laughter fills the department. You and a few coworkers are standing around talking, (well let’s keep it 100, y’all gossiping), and all of sudden you hear background music slowly getting louder the more you talk. It’s not Beyonce, Rihana, Pharrell, Ti, nor Katy Perry, it’s the Gaithers. Now you haven’t been to church since Christmas, you don’t read your bible every day, English is your only language, but you remember from Easter last year your Pastor saying “Eli Eli lama sabachthani” (Father forgive them for they know not what they do…) was one of the last seven sayings of Jesus Christ, so why is your coworker chanting this????
